Had a super fantastic family vacation with  my dad, brother, and sisters and hubbies...completed bindings on 4 quilts ( thanks to hours in the car).... Now ready to get home and get back to my statler.. Been missing my little friend ....my first customer quilt. Will be a Halloween quilt

it's been too long....here we go with another class....this time we are making Rachel Griffith's Pinwheel Sampler....check out the kits   here (hurry -limited supply available) or order your pattern from Rachel here and create your own set of fabrics.
be sure you also bring these things to class:

Sewing Machine

Needles – sharp

Pins

Cutting mat

Rotary cutter

Ruler or grid

Marking pen (preferably Frixion pen available at Pinwheels & Posies)

Opt: 1/2”ruler (Omnigrid or other brand) 
**** 3  1/2 yards of backing fabric is needed if you buy the kit

BOM - started this quilt last January 2011 and just finished in Feb 2012....not too bad!!  This quilt represents many 'firsts' in my quilting experiences......first hand applique blocks, first BOM, first custom quilt...quilted using different Statler techniques in each block.....

Memories.....quilts.....so special to wrap yourself with the memories of a loved one, great times in school, college, travels, etc.....cuddle, nap, lounge and dream....as the creator it is a pleasure to bring this all together for someone....

Sew Easy Receiving Blanket

Size: 34.5” square blanket
Cut: 1@30” square
1@40” square

Mark centers of all 4 sides of both pieces. Mark 5 inches from each corner of the larger piece of fabric. Match the middles and the 5” mark (of the large piece) to 1/4” from the end of the short piece. Sew each side separately. Choose one side to leave 5” opening in the middle for turning inside out.

The 4 corners should now look like this example. The 5” extra will be hanging off at the corners.

To complete the corners:
1. Match up the 2 seams at each corner and lay them on top of each other.
2. Use a square ruler and form a right angle (90) from the fold edge to the point where the stitching stopped. Draw a line.
3. Sew on this line from the fold edge and stop at the point where the stitching started/stopped.
4. Trim 1/4” from the seam.


Turn the blanket inside out through the opening.

Flatten the blanket and pull out the corners. The flange should be 2.5 ½” around all sides. Press with the seam toward the edge of the blanket.
Top stitch or decorative stitch along the seamline and this will close the opening at the same time.




** This is the same concept for making the small blankets that babies hold – for a 2 1/2” flange or binding, always cut the larger (back) section 10” than the larger than the smaller/front section. (ie: 15” and 25” yields a 19.5” blanket or 32” and 42” yields a 37” blanket)

Overwhelming!!! So many new ideas...fabulous booths...awesome classes...met great folks...stay tuned and see some of the great new projects spinning off from market.

Sausage Crescent Rolls

1 lb breakfast sausage (like Jimmie Dean)
8 oz. cream cheese
2 cans of crescent rolls (try the new 'seamless' cans of rolls)

In a skillet, crumble and brown the sausage. Remove from heat and add the cream cheese and let it soften. Stir to mix in with the sausage.
Unroll the crescent rolls, (Pinch the seams together), divide the sausage mixture and place it down the middle. Roll the crescent rolls lengthwise pinching the edges. Place seam side down on a baking sheet and brush the top with egg white.
Bake at 375 for about 15 minutes or until it is golden.

Cool and then slice.

*** to make smaller rolls, divide each can into 2 sections to make smaller rolls - yields 4 rolls.

This is yummy!! It is great for brunch or breakfast.

New quilt class????

We had so much fun with the last class that the my friends at church want me to do another class.....i would love to....but....not sure about what quilt to do....any ideas?...needs to be average skills that all skill levels could enjoy....
I love the renewed interest in quilting that has spread through the church!!!

Summer Coming to a Close!

I've been gone for a while!! Life has taken many twists and wonderful turns in the past 3 months!! My dad was in a serious car accident in May and I have been able to be with him and help him with his recovery as he lives with us until he is back on his feet.....retirement -yes I did it!! BUT now I am in full swing with my Longarm quilting business....I love it!!! I have joined 2 quilt guilds-Lakeview Quilt Guild and Mainland Morning Quilt Guild...completed several charity and auction quilts....I have started my first Block of the Month Club with Pinwheels and Posies -local quilt shop....and I started doing contract work back to my school district as well as continuing to take dad into rehab 3x per week with doctor appts, etc....would love to hear from you:)
call me...come see me...call me if you want to work on a quilt or need someone to quilt it for you!!!!

Quilting Class - 'Church Lady Quilt"

What a success!! 2 classes completed - 36 quilts made - it has been more fun than i ever imagined...new friends...sharing ideas...learning new techniques...sharing a passion with others...stay tuned after May 22...we will show quilts after church ...look for pictures

Easter in East Texas

family, grandchildren, hunter family, gathering eggs, riding fourwheeler, fishing, picking dewberries, picking purple irises, good country cooking with grandmother's recipes, '84' with cousins, dying Easter eggs, decorating Easter cookies, sun-rise Easter service, pancake breakfast, enjoying cows, swimming and swinging, we are blessed.....blessings to all!!
